Power Up Video Challenge Winners Announced


February 27, 2010:

Bandai has made the official announcement of the winners for the Power Up Video Challenge.  The press release read as follows:

After receiving numerous Morph-tastic entries from around the country, Bandai America announces Jason from Covina, California and Jacob from Hamilton, Indiana are the winners of “The Power Rangers Power Up Video Challenge” mini-movie and storyboard contest. Collectively, the first place winners will receive $11,000 in cash prizes with $10,000 being awarded to Jason for his winning mini-movie entry titled “The Power Rangers Redemption” and $1,000 being awarded to Jacob for his winning storyboard entry. The runners-up for each category listed below are recipients of a generous Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toy prize pack.


Mini-movie Winners:

1st place: Jason from Covina, California for Video 4 – “The Power Rangers Redemption”

Runners-up: Drake from Vestal, New York for Video 2 – “Calling All Rangers”

Matthew from Sherman Oaks, California for Video 5 – “Power Rangers Victory”

Storyboard Winners:

1st place: Jacob from Hamilton, Indiana for Storyboard 2

Runner-up: Alex from Holland, Michigan for Storyboard 1

To celebrate the refreshed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toy line, aligned with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series that premiered January 2, 2010 on ABC Kids, Bandai America sponsored “The Power Rangers Power Up Video Challenge.” Between October 1 and December 15, 2009, contestants were encouraged to view a Power Rangers cliffhanger video online or at one of more than 2,000 movie theatres in the United States and then submit their own unique ending in a mini-movie or storyboard to http://www.bandai.com/powerrangers/videochallenge.

The Morphin-good finalists were narrowed down by an elite panel of expert judges with a breadth of experience in the toy and entertainment industries including:

The judges chose their top five entries in each of the mini-movie and storyboard categories. Those top five choices were then voted on by the public to select the winners.

January 9, 2009:

The expert judges have chosen their favorite videos and storyboards, but it’s now time for Power Ranger fans to have their say about who will win Bandai America Incorporated’s Power Rangers “Power Up Video Challenge.”

Contestants viewed a Power Rangers “cliffhanger video” online and then submitted their own unique ending in a mini-movie or storyboard at Bandai.com. Selected by both peers and the judging panel, the winning video and storyboard entries will receive $10,000 and $1,000 in cash prizes respectively. Plus, four runner-up winners will receive supercharged Mighty Morphin Power Rangers prize packs featuring action figures, Megazords and other Power Rangers toys!

Will Power Ranger fans agree with our judges panel that includes a former Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actor and director, Yahoo! Movies executive producer, a stop-motion animation producer/director and a toy industry insider.
