High Octane Megazord with

Linear Review
Ah the High Octane
Megazord. The Megazord used by the Red, Blue & Yellow Rangers.
While this signifies a change in Megazord toys, this change is not all that bad.
Okay, the megazord is made up of the Eagle Racer (race car), Lion Hauler (bus) and Bear Crawler (off road vehicle). The Eagle Racer & Lion Hauler are good and sturdy Zords, while the Bear Crawler isn't at the same level, it doesn't feel completely flimsy. Each Zord has it's own Engine Cell Key Compartment. And you get the Red Ranger's Engine Cell Key with the Megazord, though it looks like someone forgot to finish the Photoshop work for it, since there's a white box around the emblem. The eyes on the Zords do look a bit, well like they're bored to an extent.
Morphing the Zords together to form the Megazord is really easy, with each Zord only requiring a few pulls and turns. Once you begin assembling the Megazord, you'll notice that there's no real locking mechanism for the three Zords. Instead they stay in place through tight fitting sliding joints.
The Megazord itself stands just a bit over ten inches and looks really good. The eyes seem to become less of an issue here, at least to me. Granted there's not much posability, but then we really haven't had any recent Megazords that were poseable. The sword can be placed in either hand, but the shield (made up from the bottom half of the Bear Crawler) has to snap onto the left forearm.
While looking over all of the Zords, it appears that most all of the needed connectors are in place, for the future Megazord releases. So yes, it does look like the High Octane Megazord will be able to combine easily with the future Megazord releases.

Kids

Kids will probably enjoy the High Octane Megazord. While there's no battery operated motion or sound feature, it's still the same Megazord that will appear on the show, and morphs together pretty much the same way. Plus, at $25, that is a lot easier on parent's pockets than a $40 Megazord.
Collectors

Okay, I know what some collectors out there are saying. I know it is not the Deluxe Japanese Version, but really, it is not that bad at all. The only Zord that really looks the most off is the Bear Crawler, and I think with some paint in the ears, that would help it look a bit better. So if collectors can get past the idea of it not being the exact same as the Japanese Version, they'll like this enough. Plus, if all you're going to do is display it on a shelf, then do you really want to spend $70+ on the Japanese Version? As I said, odds are it will be able to form all the future Megazord formations later on, so this really is not a bad Megazord at all.

While never really being a fan of the Animal Vehicle Zord idea, this Megazord still won me over a bit. Yeah the eyes do look somewhat off, but I can look past that. I am disappointed in the Engine Cell Key mistake with the white box. While it may not be the full "Deluxe " standard Megazord that is normal, I'm pleased with this Megazord and feel that the future Megazords in this line will do just as good. For $25, I'd say it was money well spent on my part.
